    Placing Items on Reserve

Edens Library places materials on reserve each semester by request of faculty members for a faculty-designated length of time. Both personal and library materials are placed on reserve in accordance with Copyright Laws.

Faculty members are asked to place materials on reserve before the semester begins to ensure the material is available for student use. A completed reserve form (available at the Circulation desk or from the Circulation Manager) must accompany all reserve materials. Please remember to list all materials placed on reserve on the back of the reserve form. The faculty member is responsible for pulling library materials they need placed on the reserve shelf.

    Photocopied materials should include:
  • Any copyright notice on the original
  • Appropriate citation and attributions to the source

  • Please see the J. Drake Edens Reserve Policy for Photocopied Materials for further instructions. A copy of the policy has also been made available to your department. Edens Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

Reserve materials are located on shelves behind the Circulation Desk. Students MUST PRESENT their I.D. card at the Circulation Desk to check out the material for the length of time designated.

    Ordering Library Materials

The library provides each department with an allocation to spend on library materials. Order cards should be completed, approved by the department chair, and sent to the Collection Development Librarian.

Each department has a library liaison. The liaison can assist faculty members by providing current reviews of significant titles, helping locate titles for new courses, guiding the weeding process, providing recommended lists from various publications, and answering questions.

Baker and Taylor Title Source III is a commercial web site and the first place faculty/staff should use for searching books. Contact a User Services Librarian or the Collection Development Librarian for the User I.D. and password.

Contact the Collection Development Librarian for further information.
